I CAN FEEL THEIR EVIL LITTLE LEGS ON ME!
Jumping spiders are cuter.
I suppose posting links to all those videos of dancing spiders is out of the question. Some things are better appreciated from a distance.
From a distance. Through the scope of a high-power rifle.
Those peacock spiders are also jumping spiders. And they’re tiny.
Two newly discovered species have been nicknamed “Skeletorus” (oooh) and “Sparklemuffin” (awwww).
Is it possible to domesticate the wild wolf spider into becoming the cute puppy spider? Just look at all eight of those cute puppy spider eyes, four times the “oh, ain’t it cute!” power of a normal earth puppy dog. You could also train it to knit silk shirts. Ever tried getting a dog to knit? I rest my case.
For someone who is otherwise well informed and skeptical, I was surprised to read this comic and the one before this. If you live in Colorado, then you probably did not see a brown recluse. There has only been one confirmed specimen of a brown recluse spider found in Colorado, and that was most likely a hitchhiker from out of state. The environment simply doesn’t support them.
However, we do have several non-dangerous species that are brown and easily mistaken as a recluse. The odds are high that you encountered one of these and understandably misidentified it. The article below from the entomology department at CSU does a better job of explaining this common mistake.

It is also important to keep in mind that while spiders are sometimes startling, they play an important part in our ecosystem. Fear of spiders is perhaps understandable, but in this area it is not very rational.
I used to live in Oklahoma, the brown recluse capital of the world. I did mention that they were conspiring to castrate me?
How could you NOT love spooders? They are absolutely adorable. They like to groom their own legs and scratch their butt
