Notice how blocky Mitch’s features are. Mitch is a bit of a blockhead. The design was intentional.

A common theme that was repeated often at The Amazing Meeting is that anyone can be fooled, and we shouldn’t blame the victim who buys into dubious claims. A big theme of this comic is how to address the irrational beliefs of our friends while balancing a respectful relationship.

Carbon Dating was very carefully written to include imperfect characters, each with their pet placebos and irrationalities. Each character flaw sets the stage for future challenges our protagonist will have to address as he makes the difficult transition from bachelor to responsible adult, and from freelance writer to skeptical activist. Each character has a 100 and 300 strip arcs of character development mapped out, but they all have to start somewhere.

If you haven’t noticed by now, Mitch is best described as a blunt object.
